How to take homeopathic remedies?

When do I take my remedy?

All remedies should be taken independent of meals, food and drink. Leave between 10 and 20 minutes after food or drink and another 10 and 20 minutes before any food and drink.

Exception: Tissue salts, they can be taken about 5 minutes before or after food and drink.

How do I take a remedy?

All remedies should be put under the tongue to dissolve. If you have a liquid leave it in the mouth for a moment before swallowing.

What potency shall I take?

If you self prescribe there are some rules of thumb to follow:

- acute illness like fever, flu, gastric flu, sprains, bruises, shock, any complaints that appear suddenly
Normally a 30 (C) potency is advisable. Should there be very severe symptoms you can try a 200 (C) potency.

- chronic illness, any longstanding problems
For these potencies from 30 to 10 M are used. I recommend that you discuss with your therapist which potency is appropriate.

- Tissue salts
There are 12 tissue salts that come in a 6 X potency. They can be taken as supplements or to influence acute and chronic symptoms. I recommend discussion with your therapist or a good book on the subject.

How often do I take a remedy?

When to take a remedy is normally written on the back of the container or envelope. Please follow these instructions.

If you self prescribe there are some rules of thumb to follow:

- acute illness
30 potency: take 1 tablet or 2-3 sugar pills every 10 to 30 minutes until the symptoms alleviate. If there is no improvement after 4 doses consider whether this is the appropriate remedy.

You can also add your remedy to a glass of spring water and take a sip every 10 to 30 minutes. Stir after each sip to raise the potency.

- chronic illness
For chronic illnesses the remedy should be taken less frequently. Once a month to once a week for 30 potencies, once every 2 months to once a week for 200 potencies. So the higher the potency the lower the frequency of application.

What if I have an adverse reaction?

Especially in chronic illnesses an adverse reaction can happen. Often the remedy lets an old symptom surface or aggravates an existing symptom. If you are not sure whether this is ok, stop the remedy and contact your therapist asap.

I always react very sensitively to any remedy

Tell your therapist about it.

If you self prescribe there are several possibilities:
1. Use an LM potency. These get taken more frequently but are very gentle in their influence on the organism.
2. Dilute your remedy: Instead of taking the remedy directly, dissolve it in 1/2 a glass of spring water and only take 1 or 2 sips.
